Tips for Web Design

While designing your own web sites, there are some important points that you have to take note of. Please do not make the following mistakes if you wanted to achieve good Internet marketing results.

1. Get your own domain name. By domain name, it refers to URL that you customised. Many businesses often use their business name as their domain. For example Singtel, the URL is www.singtel.com.sg . There are many more examples, which you can easily find in the web. Try not to use free domain like Geocities, Tripod as it often makes your businesses look less professional.
2. Try not to have a very flashy website. It is important that your website can load fast. Have you ever visit a website whereby the page takes ages to load. And many times, you would just switch to another sites rather than waiting for the page to load up. A flashy website will deter visitors from visiting your website and thus make Internet marketing unsuccessful.
3. Many people have the illusion that as long as I have a website, it will boast my business. However, this is only half correct. If you didn't try to market your website, there is no way people will know that your site actually existed.
1. Try to submit your website in as many search engines as possible. There are many search engines that you can submit you URL free.
2. Try to practice SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
3. Always use spiral marketing. This means you have to market your website by mouth, on your name cards and whatever marketing tactics you used and vice versa



4. Always find a reliable domain and space. Try to look for providers who provide 24/7 technical supports. We have many clients who got domain from US and often, their website could not be found. This cannot be happening because it would means potential business loss.
5. One of the benefits of having a website is that you can make updates to your website almost instantaneously. Whatever changes to your company information that you would like to share with your clients and prospects, you can make the changes rapidly. Therefore, maintenance to your website is almost a must for effective results.
6. If you are designing your website, please do not use music and sounds. Many researches have been carried out in this area and often, background music and sounds tend to distract or irritate visitors.
7. Your home page is the most important page of your site. A good home page should be able to tell the visitors your core business and relevant information within 20 seconds.
8. Use a good navigation bar. Your navigation buttons should be clear so that the visitors have a rough idea what the navigated page is going to tell him.
