Uncovering Acne Myths
Acne is a skin disorder that affects millions of people. Many
people seek help for this ailment by seeking help through
friends, and school mates that are also suffering from acne.
Because there is so much casual talk about what causes acne and
how to treat acne best, many times we find that we have received
misinformation. Here are some common myths that are incorrect.
Eating Chocolate Causes Pimples
Recent research has shown that eating chocolate or any other
food does not cause pimples. Doctors however recommend that
people with skin disorders do eat a healthy balanced diet in
order to gain important vitamins and minerals that they may be
deficient in.
Clean your face as often as possible.
This myth can actually make your acne worse. Clean your face
twice a day. Never scrub your face, because you will only
irritate your face and will be wiping all over your face
bacteria and oil that can cause more breakouts. If during the
day you get oil or dirt on your face, wash your face gently with
warm water and pat dry.
Tanning is good for acne
The sun can actually hurt your face, not to mention that many
acne products are sensitive to the sun. You can do lots of
damage to your face if you stay in the sun for a long period of
time with an acne product on your face. A good tan might cover
up your acne temporarily, but it will irritate your skin and
take your face much longer to heal.
So if you find that you are hearing too many inconsistencies
about the treatment of acne, consult your dermatologist or
pharmacist for the correct answers.
